***FASHION SHOW BY DESIGNER: WEYAKA***
Growing up in the San Fransisco during the sixties Weyaka was exposed to outrageous creativity from the start! Her parents were very involved in the music scene. Among others, she got to explore Janis Joplin closet! What fun! Being surrounded by Rock stars, artists and hippies, creativity on all levels was everywhere!
Weyaka started taking her costume designs really seriously about nine years
ago. Many pieces are all one of a kind, made from a combination of vintage fabrics, recycled items as well as some new fabrics. They are mix of Mulon Rouge, burlesque, and tribal. Very sexy and feminine. Beautiful self expression is what she tries to support through her wearable art. Her work is worn by dancers, Burners (Burningman) and VERY free spirits! When wearing her clothes, you really feel like you are representing the feminine devine!"

The company caters to a high-end customer base, which is reflected in its prices. For instance, fringe blazers for women cost $965, while black leather button-down shirts for men sell for $595.
At its peak, North Beach Leather -- made famous by its owner and designer, Michael Hoban -- was the largest privately owned leather company in the United States. Hoban came up with elaborate concepts and shaped them into leather, selling his brand to such customers as John Lennon, Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis Jr.
Some of Hoban's designs have appeared in collections at the Fashion Institute of Technology's Fashion History Museum in New York, as well as the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History in Washington.
The company expanded during the 1970s and 1980s, but pulled back in 1997, when Hoban closed several stores in an effort to refocus on design. In 2000, he opened a North Beach Leather in SoHo in New York and a second store in Las Vegas.
Skip Pas, a general manager for North Beach Leather for 10 years and the owner of Gold Coast Leather, took over business operations in 2004.
The company, now West Coast Leather aims to provide the same experience to consumers through the 21st Century out of it's flagship location in San Francisco.
At West Coast Leather, we believe....everyone's a rock star!
